Tottenham have confirmed that the one positive coronavirus case from the fifth round of Premier League testing has come from the north London club.
Players and staff are being tested regularly for COVID-19 ahead of the top-flight’s planned return on June 17.
In the latest round of results, just one case was confirmed from a total 1,197 tests carried out and Tottenham have now confirmed that it’s from one of their team.
Tottenham via a statement confirmed the positive result was from one of their players or staff members, but did not reveal their identity.
A statement read: “We have been informed by the Premier League that we have received one positive test for COVID-19 following the latest round of testing at our Training Centre.
“Due to medical confidentiality, the individual’s name will not be disclosed.
“They are currently asymptomatic and will now self-isolate for seven days, in line with Premier League protocol, before undergoing further testing.
“We shall continue to strictly adhere to the Premier League’s Return to Training protocol, which ensures our Training Centre remains a safe and virus-free working environment.”
The club also said it would not be revealing if it was a player or a member of staff that tested positive.
The latest results will be a positive sign for Premier League bosses ahead of the 2019/20 season’s return in a fortnight.
