Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is planning to follow Liverpool’s approach to recruitment in the upcoming transfer window as he looks to continue revamping his squad at the Emirates. The Spanish boss is set to offload multiple players this summer and bring in some new reinforcements.
Arsenal are expected to spend significantly less in the upcoming summer transfer window and target free agent signings.
The Gunners are facing a difficult transfer window, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexanre Lacazette both linked with moves away.
Club captain Aubameyang is entering into the final year of his contract at the Emirates, and it appears the Gunners are willing to offload him.
They will reportedly let him go if they receive a bid of at least £20million, while there is still speculation over Mesut Ozil’s future.
Arsenal’s highest-paid player, on £350,000-per-week, can’t seem to get a kick under Arteta and appears to have no future under the Spaniard.
Arteta has apparently been taking inspiration from new Premier League champions Liverpool ahead of the upcoming window, and will be trying to copy their approach to transfer activity when the window opens.
He explained that he believes clubs need to make sure their incoming players fit the right philosophy and have the right quality.
Arteta did, however, admit that the Gunners are a long way away from reaching the levels of the runaway champions.

“Liverpool is a great example to see that it is possible,” said the boss.
“But it takes a lot of work and a lot of the right decisions from everyone.
“First of all, you need belief in what you are doing and then see that you are all aligned in that belief.
“From there you start to make right decisions, in terms of recruitment, to get a coach who identifies the philosophy that is needed for that football club, who the fans believe in.

“And then you need players who are 100 per cent committed to that manager, to that football club, to give their best all the time, it does not matter what.
“You must ask what type of personality are you signing? Does he fit your club culture?
“After that, quality-wise, positions, what is needed? Slowly you start to catch up and start to get better. The table shows how far away we are right now.
“But when you start to make improvements and generate belief – and have the fans and history we have – you can do anything. I have a strong belief in that.”
