Lionel Messi’s father gives fresh update about his Barcelona future


A good news have emerged from the camp of Lionel Messi as there are possibility the Barcelona captain will stay with the Catalonia club to see out his contract.

Since last week, the Ballon d’Or winner’s desire to leave Barça has been well known, and was communicated by a controversial burofax that voiced a since refuted assertion he could terminate his current deal.

Believing himself to be a free agent, Messi’s desire to move have been  hindered by both the club and La Liga who noted that his release clause must be paid by any club willing to secure his service.

On Wednesday, Messi’s father and agent Jorge arrived in the Catalan capital then, alongside eldest son Rodrigo, held a one-and-a-half-hour meeting with president Josep Bartomeu that ended without resolution.

Jorge expected to land from Rosario that day, he eventually graced Barcelona yesterday morning and brief comments made to Deportes Cuatro have since gone viral this afternoon in Spain accompanied by reports suggesting that Messi could stay.

Asked whether with their hands seemingly tied the Messi camp is “thinking of continuing until 2021 and then leaving for free” next summer, Jorge answered “yes”, and immediately gave hope to Culers worldwide.

Fans will be hoping Messi rethink his decision as the Argentine wizard is no doubt one of the best player to have ever wear Barcelona shirt.
