Italian giants Juventus are keen on Chelsea midfielder Jorginho – and that could help a deal for German wonderkid Kai Havertz.
Bayer Leverkusen starlet Havertz, 21, is keen on a switch to the Premier League with Chelsea now in pole position to sign the £70m-rated midfielder.
Chelsea have already spent big on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech but could offset a deal for Havertz by cashing in on either Jorginho or N’Golo Kante.
Real Madrid are long term admirers of Kante but now Juventus are expressing interest in Jorginho, who is no longer guaranteed a starting place.
Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is in charge at Juventus and knows Jorginho from Napoli and Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea remain keen on West Ham ’s Declan Rice as they look to carry on spending big this summer.
The 21-year-old has emerged as an England regular and has improved dramatically as a defensive midfielder, and would be viewed as the perfect successor to Kante.
Rice, who joined West Ham after being released by Chelsea when he was 14, has blossomed with the Hammers and had previously attracted interest from Manchester United.
Last week, Lampard hailed Rice’s winners’ mentality ahead of his side’s game against the Hammers.
The Chelsea boss was talking about Rice coming up against his pal Mason Mount, who has become a key player at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard said: “There is only one thing I will ask of Mason – and from my point of view that is obviously all I care about going into this one.
“He texts Declan tonight, he smiles at him in the tunnel or whatever it is, but if and when they go up against each other he has try to beat him in every individual battle that he possibly can.
“And sensing Declan Rice’s character, I am sensing they will both be like-minded on that one.”
Chelsea lost 3-2 to the Hammers but have bounced back with two straight wins – against Watford on Saturday and Crystal Palace on Monday – meaning the west Londoners have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions.
