Liverpool defender Andy Robertson might currently be one of the best in his position but he has declared is intentions when it comes to Lionel Messi moving to the Premier League.
It would be recalled that Messi informed Barcelona last week that he wished to leave this summer, following a disastrous season which ended with an 8-2 hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.
Messi’s camp claimed the Argentine is able to leave on a free because of a clause in his contract that gives him the option to do so at the end of each season.
With Barcelona yet to sort out Messi’s situation at the club and Manchester City tipped as his next destination, Robertson stated that he does not want the Argentine wizard in Premier League.
City are likely to be Liverpool’s main rivals as they look to defend their Premier League title and Robertson would rather they were not strengthened by the arrival of the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
“I think Liverpool have ruled out that we could sign him so I don’t want him anywhere near the Premier League and hopefully it stays that way,” Robertson said.
“I’ve played against him twice and it’s the hardest games I’ve ever played.”
