A Chelsea legend, two Real Madrid superstars and one of the most decorated Brazilian players of all time make up a “toughest” dream back four that Harry Kane has ever faced.

In a one-on-one interview with SPORTbible, the Spurs No.10 had no hesitation in naming a fellow England captain as the outstanding defender he’s come up against.

“John Terry,” he says firmly. “I played against him for a couple of years and he’s just a really smart defender. Good positioning, used his body well, didn’t let you make runs across.”

Terry was never the quickest defender, but as Kane suggests his reading of the game made him an enormous challenge. However the next centre-back he picks can do it all.

“Sergio Ramos – very good, a complete player,” says Kane. “I’ve also said Giorgio Chiellini [in the past], I played against Chiellini for Italy and Juventus. Then at the moment I think Virgil van Dijk is up there with one of the best as well.”

Four superb central defenders, and an unbelievable bench of Chiellini and Van Dijk if we’re playing quizmaster and only accepting Kane’s first answers of Terry and Ramos (presumably eyeballing each other over the captain’s armband).

The Tottenham forward has faced Ramos several times in Champions League clashes in recent seasons, but he isn’t the only Real Madrid player to grab his attention.

When asked about the best full-backs he’s come up against, Kane replies: “Marcelo for Real Madrid. Fantastic left-back – his quality on the ball is amazing. Really, really special.
