Former Chelsea forward, Eden Hazard has reveal that he has had a secret meeting with the president of Real Madrid before he made the move last summer.
The Belgian who completed a move of £89million which could rise to £150m with add-ons noted that he has made up his mind of joining the Spanish Giant a year before he secure the move.
Hazard stated this while appearing in a documentary on Real Madrid TV, where he discussed when it first became clear a move to the Bernabeu was a strong possibility.
And the Belgium international revealed it was after the 2018 World Cup when he was told by Florentino Perez that they would be trying to sign him.
He said: “Courtois is someone I know well and in which I trust.”
“He always told me it was the best club.
“When he finished the World Cup in Russia I wanted to go to Madrid, I had already made the decision.
“It was not possible and I was another year Chelsea.
“That made the exit easier, Chelsea understood and let me out.
“I spoke to Florentino and told me that I expected in Madrid.
“After I spoke with Luka Modric and felt that everyone wanted me see at Real Madrid. And finally fulfilled.”
It hasn’t been the fairytale start for Hazard at Real so far, with just one goal from his opening seven games in all competitions.
And it remains incredibly tight in the Spanish top flight, with just three points separating the top seven teams.
The 28 years old won two Premier League titles, two Europa League trophies as well as an FA Cup and League Cup.
